Pretty verbose but informative. Read this to my kids the night before the election last year and now we get to watch our country burn to the ground together. MAGA?
Although I read the reviews before purchasing, I couldn't resist buying this for our 4 year old last fall because I wanted to be able to have some kind of discussion about the upcoming election. Although it served its purpose, I was definitely disappointed in the story. I found the writing awkward and confusing even for me as an adult.
I purchased this book to read to my 2nd grade class to go along with the upcoming election. It is packed full of great information at a child's level. It is written in a Dr. Seuss rhyming format that all young children love. Who is running for president in the book? Well..The Cat in the Hat, of course!
Used this as my all-school focus piece for our kindergarten to third grade election event. As other reviewers have said, the story is definitely not Dr. Seussish. Not well written with less-than-stellar rhyming.... That said, though, the book has been good to use because of the other activities associated with it. The associated website with the actual voting for kids to do has been wonderful! We created voting booths, "I had my say, I voted today" stickers and discussed issues/causes that even my youngest students could understand. Mention of, or discussion about, the two leading 2016 presidential candidates was never mentioned. We took the "high road" in election discussion.
Great cat in the hat book stressing the importance of voting. To be 100% honest, one of the reasons I bought this book was to influence the mother of a three-year-old who likes to read books to her son. Sometimes everybody needs reminding of their civic duty and nothing wrong with starting kids thinking about that as well.
This is a nice book for the basics of voting for children. It reads pretty smoothly and the images are colorful and relevant. My daughter isn’t exactly thrilled by the various aspects of government, but it is planting a seed in order for her to grasp the concept now and build on it in the future.
It's a faux Seuss description of how government works. Like some kind of school report with rhyming and illustrated with Seuss tropes. I can't imagine what age level it's appropriate for.
Perfect book to teach children about the process of voting and the importance of it! I paired this with a mock voting booth and allowed students to vote.
